The Recipe for a Cult

What is a cult?  Defined by the Free Dictionary a cult is:

"A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader."  link

The following is a list of ingredients that make up a cult:

1.  The Cult Leader

The Current Cult Leader of the New Testament Christian
Churches of America, Inc. Micheal C. Kekel, Reluctantly Takes to Social Media on a Recent Damage Control Campaign to Dispel the "Children Hinder The Work of the Lord" doctrine that was Preached by his father-in-law, R. W. Davis, for Over Four Decades; despite going through the motions, kekel looks less than thrilled to be holding this precious little baby.  Kekel looks like he is thinking that soon this "filthy evil child" will be "throwing hissy fits in the cookie aisle of the grocery store" as we've often heard him say of other people's kids.
The first ingredient for a cult is the cult leader.  You can't have a cult unless you have a cult leader.  The cult leader is always a narcissist who expects others to do what the leader says, while ignoring what the leader does.  The narcissistic cult leader believes that they are superior to all of their followers and must be able to convince others that the leader is chosen by God and above all reproach.  Successful cult leaders have the ability to make others believe that the leader is God's perfect servant and all doctrine and rules issued forth by the leader come directly from God Himself.  The cult leader must have the ability to convince others that the leader is pure and without sin, while causing the followers to blame themselves for any trouble in their lives by focusing on the members' own shortcomings and alleged sins.

2.  Cult Members

These Cult Members from the ntcc Flock Together at the National Tax-free Cult Compound in Missouri to Pledge their Support For The World Missions Slush Fund While Missionaries Testify of Poverty and Lack of Financial Support

The cult leader must find people that will follow without question and seek the leader's approval.  Cult members are often from dysfunctional families and broken homes and seek approval and a place to belong. Unfortunately the prime candidates for Christianity usually have similar backgrounds to cult members.  Cult members often start out as sincere Christians or broken souls who are seeking to be free from a life of suffering and misery or loneliness and lack of direction or purpose.  While God reaches out to many who are poor, a cult leader instead requires the members to have an income or ability to make money so the cult leader can prosper financially from all of the money and labor of the followers. Cult leaders are often sexual predators who not only seek financial profit but use their position of trust to gratify their sexual fantasies.  For this reason many cult members were targeted due to their background of physical and sexual abuse.  Abused people are drawn to cults which give them a false sense of being loved.  They often don't recognize the cult's abusive practices as abuse, because they are accustomed to poor treatment in their past.  Hence cult members are often people that can be easily exploited for money, sex or 'pastor' worship, all due to their past familiarity with abuse and present gullibility.

In contrast, people who are solidly grounded in a healthy faith do not make good cult members. People who know the bible do not make good cult members.  People who are well-off financially do not make good cult members.  People who ask too many questions do not make good cult members. People who demand accountability and transparency from the cult leader do not make good cult members.  People who think for themselves and speak up against hypocrisy and abuse do not make good cult members. They may be fooled for a while; but as they grow in grace and the knowledge of the truth, they will recognize a cult for what it is.

3.  Cult doctrine

A cult leader cannot control his/her cult members without cult doctrine. Cult doctrine is the mortar that holds all the bricks together in a cult.  A successful cult leader introduces false doctrines supported by twisted scriptures to control and manipulate cult members.  Cult members have to believe that cult doctrine comes from God.  Cult indoctrination often involves total trust and confidence that the cult leader is God's chosen vessel to share God's special plan with the members.  God's special plan is always based on the cult member sacrificing and the cult leader profiting. The cult member pays tithe or gives in offerings while the cult leader receives tithes and collects offerings.  Cult doctrine or God's special plan for the cult members' lives is only made possible if they are ignorant of what the bible actually says or if they quench the Spirit.  Cult members are taught not to use the part of their brain that questions their cult leaders or rationalizes that they are part of a big scam. They are indoctrinated to believe that any thought or person who questions the cult doctrine or leader is "of the devil".  This phrase, "of the devil" is mind-stopping lingo designed to halt independent thought.  It is cult jargon at its worst.

4.  Cult Jargon

Cult Jargon for Dummies:
Turn or Burn!
Get Right or Get Left!
Holiness or Hell!
Often times cult members are brainwashed with cult jargon.  Cult jargon often consists of one line phrases that are not found in the bible but are believed by cult members as gospel.  Here is a list of cult jargon that was often used in the ntcc.

  • You just need to get saved. (often used when one doesn't conform)
  • All Christians pay tithe and give in offerings.
  • X-cult members are just bitter and need to move on.
  • I can't remember the last time I sinned.  (a big lie)
  • You can't build a church with poor people.  (or non tithe payers)
  • If you do not pay 10% tithe before taxes or if you are late with your tithe you will be too heavy to go in the rapture.
  • Children hinder the work of the Lord.
  • If you steal a paper clip from the Army you will be one paperclip too heavy to go in the rapture.
  • cats are of the devil
  • Children must be beaten to drive the devil out of them
  • Television is the devil vision
  • Internet is the Sinner net
  • ear rings are devil stirrups
  • If you don't pay tithe, you are a God-robber.
  • Pastor is the Man of God (and must be obeyed without question)
  • White men who marry black women have low self esteem
5.  A Cult Compound

All are Welcome if the Gate is Open, the mind is shut, and the wallet is also open!

Cults often have compounds that are fenced in.  Gates and security cameras are often placed around the homes of the cult leaders and access is only granted by permission to a select few.  Unusual rules and demands are placed on cult members who live in cult compounds. Permission is often required to be asked among cult members to do ordinary things that most people do without asking.  Decisions that most Christians are trusted to make on their own require approval from cult leaders who have very little trust in their followers.  Sometimes cult compounds use strict rules rather than fences to keep people in. Servicemen's Homes are cult compounds that require all occupants to attend every church function, pay tithes and home offerings, have no visitors unless approved by the pastor, obtain permission to come and go for extended periods of time and be an "example of the believer" by keeping a bunch of non biblical man-made rules.

A requirement of faithful cult members to attend every cult function also can make a civilian church feel like a cult compound because most of the cult members waking hours are spent fulfilling the requirement to be at every cult meeting and only spend time with other cult members. Permission is asked for just about everything in a cult member's life, creating invisible boundaries that should not exist.  Dating is not permitted without permission from the local cult leader and many relationships are manipulated or destroyed by the cult leader to maintain control inside the cult collective.  Everything a cult member does is scrutinized by the cult leader and ultimatums of eternal damnation are placed upon the lives of cult members to keep them in the compound or cult community.

Cult Avoidance

How do you avoid a cult?  Simple question and simple answer.  Read your bible.  Do you ever see Jesus telling people who they can date or encouraging folks to follow a rich huckster that lives in a gated community?  Of course you don't.  Once you know the Word, it becomes easy to avoid cults.

Cult Recognition

But what if you didn't know the Word and you joined a cult?  The problem is that cult members don't like anyone telling them anything that destroys their fantasy world. Brainwashing involves people abandoning all common sense in pursuit of a religion that makes them feel special and chosen while excluding all who recognize the cult leader's diabolical motives.  Expecting a cult member to filter out cult doctrine from the bible is like expecting a poisonous snake to allow you to pet his forked tongue without getting bit. Many of us were there at one time.  We all thought critically of everyone who didn't fall lockstep into our way of life.  We labelled it Christianity and, in our minds, those who didn't comply were all destined for hell.  We didn't want anyone to interfere with our religion; and we definitely didn't want to believe we were in a cult.  Eventually after being used and abused for an extended period of time, we opted out.

Cult Shaming

Successful cults will make people think that if they leave the cult, they are leaving God.  Therefore those who leave tend to blame themselves for everything while they exonerate the cult leader and cult followers of any wrong doing.  But reading the Bible will show that the opposite is true.  It is most often the person who leaves the cult who has the pulse of God, while those who stay in the cult are following a false prophet.

Cult Extraction - Yay!

But for cult members who are constantly bombarded with false doctrine, it takes time for the seed of truth to grow in their hearts.  Occasionally a cult member or a former cult member will wake up and the lights will turn on and expose the cult in their minds.  One hundred cult members might read this; and all one hundred of them might deny that they are in a cult and mock us for what we are doing.  But God will continue to water the seed of truth in their hearts.  We believe that there will come a time that the cult leaders will push these honest Christians to a breaking point, as these miscreant cult leaders so often do; and the Christian member will realize that they have been had.  Once this light breaks, the Christians realize they no longer belong in this cult; and they will make a break for freedom and liberty.  We hope that when they do so, these liberated people will not blame God or feel that they are betraying God by leaving the cult.  We also hope that their break from the cult will be not only physical but spiritual too.  So many people will leave the cult physically, but struggle to rid themselves of the erroneous cult doctrines that have been pounded into their hearts and minds.  Worship through godly music, prayer, and bible reading will help the newly freed Christians sharpen their senses and filter out false teachings and cult echoes that try to haunt and hinder their free walk with God.

It's only a Cult, NOT your God

Leaving the cult is not leaving God.  It's freeing yourself from the handwriting of man-made ordinances that is against you.  The cult leaders in the ntcc know what they are doing; and they want you to go along with their doctrine for the rest of your life, whether you leave or you stay.     They definitely do not want you to share your knowledge with the brainwashed masses that remain in bondage.  They want you to hate anyone who exposes them even if you no longer attend their cult meetings or support them with your tithes and offerings.  That's what makes it a cult; and even if you leave them they expect you to keep their doctrine as if it came from God Himself.  But gave us our salvation. He is not going to take it away.  Our salvation does not depend on the name hanging over the cult compound.  God gave salvation to us, and man cannot take that away from us, even if we leave their money-grubbing cult!

Summary

This is the recipe for a cult.  All you need is a Huckster, some followers, some messed up doctrine supported by non biblical jargon and a cult community that keeps you in their controlling atmosphere where you can be manipulated and exploited.  They will always be looking for new recruits to replace those whom they no longer need; but they would prefer for you to keep your brain switch in the "Off" position for the rest of your life and don't dare say anything against them or hell will be your home, according to them.  Thank God that Jesus is not like them!

The Root Of All Evil

It's a shame what the love of money makes people do.  In some ways, I'm glad that I've never had much money.  It seems like those that do can be categorized in a few different groups:

1.  The Greedy

2.  The tight-wads

3.  The practical hard-workers

For the love of money is the root of all evil  ...
While much has been shared about the pursuit of riches within the ntcc, it seems that they will never change.  In my 13+ years in the ntcc, none of the 14 preachers that I observed had much of anything.  This to me was never unusual; because there was a realization of the sacrifice required by all of the pastors in ntcc, at least the ones that I knew of in the churches that I was attending.  It was always shared that if you gave willingly God would bless you.  What always did strike me as odd, was the many times in which there was serious money rolling into churches and very little of it ever seemed to accumulate at least not in a place where the local pastors or members could access any of it.
The ntcc is run much like the United States Government is run.
The government has their hand in every aspect of your life. ...
And so does ntcc!

The ntcc is run much like the United States Government is run. Uncle Sam takes a big chunk of money off of the top of your pay check called income tax. This is much like tithe in that it is a percentage of your income before any of it gets spent. Then you have State taxes that come out of your check before you see anything in your bank account. Then you have other deductions like Social Security, unemployment insurance and the list goes on. This is everything that is taken out of your check before you get to spend a penny. Then when you go to spend the money you have to pay sales tax on everything you buy. Food tax which is usually more than sales tax when you buy food in a restaurant. Hotels are taxed and they pass that high tax-rate onto you; (by law they have to). Just about every bill you pay to include the phone bill, energy bill, cable, high-speed internet, water, trash (and the list goes on) has taxes on the bill; taxes which are over and above the services that you are paying for. The government has their hand in every aspect of your life. If this is not enough you then have taxes that are incorporated into every business that you patronize. For example if the Government makes Walmart pay taxes on its profits, do you think that Walmart is going to eat those costs themselves? What they do is they incorporate the price of those taxes into the price that you pay at the register so that you pay their taxes for them. This happens in every business; the expenses of operating are passed along to you the customer. When the Government gets greedy they come out with a new tax that supposedly is on the rich or the wealthiest people such as Gasoline and oil companies. They tax the fuel right at the pump. Why not?  The oil companies are rich; they can afford it.  Right? This tax is again paid by you the customer. So what do they want to do? As they have done in the past they are suggesting that the oil companies pay "windfall" tax on their profits. Who do you think will pay for that? Us. Gas will be so expensive that we'll have to spend ten bucks just to put enough gas in our lawn mower to cut the grass. If your parents die and leave you their life savings which they have paid taxes on all their life, then you have to pay taxes on it before you spend it; if they repeal the Bush tax cuts, it will be 55% taxed. Then you got property tax, personal property tax, automotive taxes and the list goes on and on and on.

The ntcc has a very similar system to the United States Government. First of all you have tithe which is paid off of the top of your check before Uncle Sam Gets a hold of it. Wait a sec, didn't uncle sam already get a hold of it? Then it is very highly encouraged (from behind the pulpit) that we are not to be tightwads and pay to the penny; but we are to pay more than 10% so God can have room to bless us. Also, just in case we receive blessings throughout the week, throw a few extra bucks into the envelope so you'll be covered. So there we have it; tithe is taken care of.  What next?  Offerings.  This is where they really dig into your wallet. That little velvet bag with the two wooden handles gets to make its rounds at least 5 or 6 times a week. I've seen it passed around in Sunday school and morning and evening church services, bible studies and even on special occasions during fellowship after the service when everyone is eating cake and drinking Cool-aid. But there is nothing wrong with this; it is a free-will offering right? I've seen ntcc preachers sweat and slobber from behind the pulpit trying to get people to give more money. The part of the service that is supposed to be 10 seconds long right before the offering plate makes its rounds was often turned into a mini sermon and fire was issued forth from behind the pulpit before the basket was even prayed over in anticipation of receiving a large wad of cash. I've even seen that pesky little bag passed around more than one time in the same service. Okay, we'll cut you some slack because everybody takes up offerings, don't they?

Here are a few more examples of how the ntcc is like the federal government:

Budget offerings:  This is a tax that is incorporated into their system of money extraction for the       purpose of covering expenses that were not able to be covered by previous taxes; I mean offerings.

World Missions:  This is a tax that is used to export ministers overseas so that they can live in complete and total poverty and receive very little help from the government; ur I mean ntcc leadership, which they have given so much of their money to and entrusted with their welfare.

Building Fund:  This is a very special fund of money that is set aside for the expansion of the church or so the church can grow.  More real-estate. I thought that was what the escrow fund was for; but that shows you how much I know; I was just a church member (who often kept the books for ntcc ministers)  Guess they will make a rule, oops, "policy" against that now.  All you ministers better bone up on your math!  We can't afford to have the members knowing what really happens to all that money!

Revival Fund:  This also is a very necessary offering that is taken up so that when the overseer goes on vacation in his Recreational Vehicle, ur I mean when He and his wife come to preach a revival, ahem, they will be able to fill up their company purchased RV; and they can get to the next place and be able to afford to eat out every night at restaurants and such.  But wait, the people at the next location will pick up that tab just so they can "be a blessing to The Man Of Gawd".

There are also many things that are expected like taking the pastor out every weekend; which I used to do anyway; because I felt sorry for the guy never having money.  Which brings us to the question, "Why would they always be broke with all of the tithes and offerings and special offerings that were taken up?

The answer is that the ntcc taxes that were imposed on the pastors were even more than that which was imposed on the members.  I'm sorry; I keep saying taxes when what I really mean to say is tithe and offerings.  If you think that the average church member has a lot of tribute to pay wait till you see what the average pastor has to pay in addition to housing, a church building, utilities, food and clothing, and transportation including to and from conference.  Actually the pastor only has two or three things that he must pay for.  The two biggies are church tithe and pastor's tithe.  One of them is tithe on everything they make and the other is tithe on tithe and everything the church brings in.  In order for the pastor to survive he has to get a job;and in some cases now his wife has to sin and get a job also; and they have to put everything into the General fund to meet the requirements of ntcc.  While all tithe income and Sunday morning offerings goes onto the tithe ledger then 10% off the top goes to Graham; thus the term 'tithe on tithe' ("which for years has been a source of ble$$ing for the churches"--mcUk).  The rest goes to the pastor.  Wait a sec, I've got it wrong again.  40% of what's left in the tithe fund goes to an escrow fund; and then the pastor gets what's left unless there is not enough in the General fund, which there very seldom is, so the money ends up in the General fund; and the local pastor gets nothing.  The General fund is supposed to be used to pay all of the bills; and this is why there is so much push for people to give above and beyond what they are able. Then the local pastor has to pay all of the special offerings like world missions and such.  It's no wonder a lot of pastors want their members to pay tithe on their tax returns which is misrepresented as an "increase" when in fact that money was already tithed on by the recipient in most cases.  I remember rwd would preach, "I hope Gawd gives you members just like youurself!"  This explains why the escrows were introduced to "prevent misappropriation, mismanagement and/or theft of each church's finances and to provide them a reserve account for coverages of extraordinary expenses" like Grant's secular education.  Oops.  Did I say that?  I'm sorry jury, strike the words "Grant's secular education" from the record.  That was uncalled for; or was it?

The very few ntcc ministers that are able to succeed in this environment can be categorized into the three types of people that we listed at the beginning of this thread.  The greedy take up all the offerings and pass on the expenses to the church members without sacrificing their own personal lifestyles.  They expect everyone else to sacrifice; but they themselves are not willing to... Sounds like davis and kekel to us.  The tightwads operate on the same principle by extracting as much money as they can from their members and also sacrificing themselves to put every penny into the work to keep it afloat.  The last type of person is very, very rare in the ntcc; and that is the practical hard-working individual that is able to get a very good paying job, or able to get a large following of church members that can sustain the financial obligations of the church without asking for more than people are able to give.

Does this sound crazy to anyone else besides me? Do you ever wonder why 99.9% of the people in the ntcc are poor?  They say: "God will bless you if you pay your tithe and offerings;" but where are "God's ble$$ings" flowing within the ntcc?  They are not flowing down hill; but rather they flow uphill to the Pacific Northwest's ntcc leadership specifically.  Graham, Washington is where you can find "the ble$$ings of God" within the ntcc.  Not in the Servicemen's homes where the brethren are borrowing from each other to put enough gas in their cars to get to work, or busting open their piggy banks to gather up enough pennies to give in an offering. Not in the bible school dorms where the students are eating ramen for dinner every night, but a few doors down where you find the beamers parked in the driveways waiting for their owners to jump in them and take them to the SeaTac mall for another spending spree where tanya kekel can buy an Alpaca wool scarf for $90 at Nordstroms (on sale!).  I wonder how many bs students witness this riotous living and just leave?  What keeps the majority of them there is fear rather than love.  Hell is placed over their heads as a consequence to bucking the system or questioning the high and mighty leadership of the ntcc. The ntcc is an organization full of scared preachers that are under enormous pressure from their superiors to "make ends meet" and have to extract money out of people that give more than they should have to because they are fearful of "failing God" if they are unsucce$$ful.

Holiness or Hell? Part 1

During our combined twenty two + plus years in the ntcc, we have heard the term "Holiness or Hell" used from behind the pulpit, during bible studies, and in general conversation many times.  Without going into our own personal opinions and convictions that might agree or disagree with the ntcc on many holiness issues, we think that it is important to get down to the root of the problem or matter however you might see it.

My issue with holiness preachers has nothing to do with the content of holiness teachings but with the way it comes across.  With the ntcc every thing comes across the pulpit as:

  • "Do or Die."
  • "My Way or the Highway!"
  • "Heaven or Hell!"
  •  etc...

But they also throw around the question,

  • "What would Jesus do?"

That is a great question; and one we all should strive to achieve.  I do not ever remember Jesus saying follow me or you will die and go to hell.  It seemed to me that the ones that followed him did so more so out of love than fear.

The reason that the ntcc is so cut and dry on many issues is that they are a cult.
They use these teachings as ultimatums:

  • to gain more control
  • to create fear
  • to make their group seem more elite
  • to make it harder to obtain membership in their exclusive club

This is a very dangerous road to travel down; because the group that usually gets excluded are the people that are the opposite of proud, the least of God's children, and the ones that are the most easily offended. The ntcc have said in the past that "It's God's word that is offending them not our preaching."  By saying this they are displaying their lack of forgiveness and a judgmental attitude that runs many off; in spite of the fact that they do preach Christ crucified. It's counter-productive to introduce holiness or hell after you just got done preaching Jesus' blood or hell.

While there are many teachings in the bible that are the "do's and don'ts" of Christianity there are also teachings that we adhere to that are not all "cut and dry".  Many things in the bible apply to customs of the time and Old Testament Law.  Tithe is a concept that has absolutely no supporting New Testament Scripture; but it is a huge part of ntcc's teaching; because in ntcc tithe is used to separate Christians from sinners and to distinguish those that are saved from those who are not.  And, more importantly to the ntcc, tithe is used to gain revenue ($$$$$$).  Not only do they hammer tithe; but they add all kinds of offerings and use more cult loaded jargon to guilt people to give.  There were many times that I was encouraged to give more than I could; and it was done in a way that made me feel that if I didn't pledge money that I didn't have that I lacked the faith to trust God [manipulation].  Now, I'm finding out that what I did give was funding the higher-ups' lifestyle more than it was helping those for whom the money was designated.  I do not have any problem with somebody paying their tithe; but when it is preached as a stipulation to being saved it takes the blessing away from the giver; and I have to say that there is no scriptural evidence that supports this teaching.

The same applies with holiness teaching.  If someone is taught holiness or hell, it makes holiness an ultimatum and people live it out of fear instead of love.  Most of what the ntcc preaches and teaches is not necessarily un-biblical, although some of it is; but it is the way in which they erupt from the pulpit and spew out ultimatums that makes it wrong.  I could take a dog that dumps on the carpet and stick its nose in it and beat the dog until it can barely walk; and it fears me every time I come near it.  Or I can choose a method like putting a dog door in the house and showing the dog his mess, give the dog some verbal reprimand and possibly a small swat to get his attention and then put him through the dog door.  I wonder which method works the best with Christians?  I wonder which method would bring in the most money into the offering plates?  I wonder if holiness was not preached as a prerequisite to make it into heaven if you might find more takers?

Part of the problem that I have with the ntcc's preaching is that they add to and take away from true holiness.  The ntcc's stand on facial hair on men is not scriptural in any way and has no place being preached as a requirement to being a Christian whether or not it is implied or in the form of public rebuke.  Is not holiness an outward appearance for an inward work?  How does the ntcc's stand on encouraging divorce not apply to "holiness or hell" preaching?  It seems like this is allowed because it would call into question the legitimacy of the entire organization, its founder, and the reasons he started a cult instead of adhering to the principles of the organization that would not allow him to do his own thing.   I could go into how tanya kekel dresses and how michael c. kekel has conducted himself, and whether or not football pants are lascivious, and many other questionable doctrines of  the ntcc; but I think that we have covered this sufficiently.  The holiness or hell doctrine that was preached the entire time that I was in the ntcc, which was 1983 - 1997 [Don] and 1990 -1999 [Ange], has been broken and changed many times by the ntcc leadership to cover their own shortcomings [compromise].

We have found that serving God is not supposed to be this difficult; and that God is much more forgiving than the ntcc.  We appreciate all that contribute to this blog; but we especially recognize the X-ers for what they have had to endure over the years.  We were all made to live as slaves to a machine that tried to control our thoughts and actions by the use of intimidation, public embarrassment and humiliation.  I really believe as said before that there will be a special dispensation of grace for those that had to endure this kind of spiritual abuse; and that God has not forsaken us because we have left this evil and wicked organization; but rather it is the first step in a long process of healing and definitely a move in the right direction toward inward holiness without hell being rammed down our throats.

NTCC SAYINGS

In an effort to lighten up a little bit we have decided to do something that everyone can participate in. If you have a favorite ntcc saying that you would like to post, let it rip. Comments and graffiti are also welcome, but please keep it clean. We'll start off with a few of our favorite ntcc sayings:

If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Pitchfork Religion or Fishy Doctrine

mike kekel put together a blog post from material written by others that he used in an effort to accuse Xers of wrongdoing just because they no longer attend ntcc and have stated why they won't follow hypocrites like kekel and davis.  What is sad but true is that kekel's blog post does a better job of condemning him and davis than it does of condemning  Xers.  Let's look at some things kekel quoted and his discussion:
"This is part 6 of the Secondary qualities (pages 41 to 81) It reveals the thinking behind people who leave and rise up against people they once revered."

Immediately following is an excerpt from practical theology class which is made up mostly of comments from non-ntcc Christians, these words are shared:
“No other man, but the retired millionaire, is such a monarch of his day as is the minister. He can read on Monday morning, or write, or walk, or mingle all three, just as he deems best. On Tuesday morning, he can attend to his correspondence, or catalogue his library, or eat the heart out of some new book, or meet a company of friends, just as he decides. The order of his going out and coming in is largely at his own discretion. Living within wide liberty is dangerous; it has spoiled thousands. He can adapt any style of preaching that he likes, he can follow whatever line of thought he chooses … and … (this) begets in certain types of men a tone of mind which says: “I am Sir Oracle, and when I open my lips, let no dog bark.” … Here is a true description of ministers not a few: ‘They love the chief places at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the market-place, and to be called of men, Rabbi."
“In the realm of parish administration, a puffed-up shepherd exhibits symptoms which have been often deplored. He resents all divergence from his opinions. Men who do not agree with him are set down as his foes. He treats them as traitors to the cause of truth. All who will not carry out his wishes have the mark of the beast. He is irritated by the least opposition. He is mortified by the failure of a single plan. Any independence of thought he considers a personal affront."
Don and Ange say,

Does this sound like anyone you know?  To us all these negative traits being condemned by non-ntcc Christians are most often exhibited by the ntcc borg 'leaders' such as davis and kekel.

For example:

"No other man, but the retired millionaire, is such a monarch of his day as is the minister." "The order of his going out and coming in is largely at his own discretion."

That really describes the borg 'leaders' like davis and kekel.  Who determines when they go anywhere?  Or who even knows what they do all day?  They sit around all day and make rules that limit you - where you can work,  telling you not to seek promotion or higher education, requiring that you report how much income you make, what hours you can work, how often you have to be in church.  And all the while you have no idea what they are doing, or whether or not they are even in town or just skipping service.  I've seen davis lay out of church plenty of times when he was at the campground and in St. Louis.  Nobody dares to say anything to him about it either because:

"(this) begets in certain types of men a tone of mind which says: “I am Sir Oracle, and when I open my lips, let no dog bark."

You know what we're talking about.  Just try to raise your hand in one of those ntcc bible studies and see what happens.  You will get shot down.  They don't even want you to ask questions about the bible.  You definitely don't want to see their reaction if you question them about there whereabouts of their spending habits.  They are completely unaccountable to you.  They can go where they want, spend what they want, do what they want.

But they hold the reins on your life.  Your wife can't work.  You can not go to school.  You have to meet every church service and obligation.  They know how much money you make and require you give them one tenth.  But they never prove where that money goes.  They are completely unaccountable to you.

Here is a true description of ministers not a few:  ‘They love the chief places at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the market-place, and to be called of men, Rabbi."

Taken from the scripture, the quoted material is speaking of hypocrites who require you to save them the best seats in the church, like on the altar, or front pew, and demand you call them a title like Pastor.  Hmmn.  Sounding familiar yet?  As if that doesn't paint a clear picture of the ntcc, this next paragraph does even more so:

“In the realm of parish administration, a puffed-up shepherd exhibits symptoms which have been often deplored. He resents all divergence from his opinions. Men who do not agree with him are set down as his foes.  He treats them as traitors to the cause of truth. All who will not carry out his wishes have the mark of the beast. He is irritated by the least opposition. He is mortified by the failure of a single plan. Any independence of thought he considers a personal affront."

WOW.  That so describes kekel and davis.  Listen to kekel's own crazy description of anyone who no longer attends ntcc.  kekel said,

"I consider them my enemies!" -- m c kekel "

HELLO!

The whole article that kekel strung together really condemns him.  Of course, he tries to pitchfork his condemnation off onto the Xers, stating that the material he's quoting:

"It reveals the thinking behind people who leave and rise up against people they once revered." m c kekel, ntcc CEO

Really, mike?  This entire writing screams out to that part of one's brain that houses common sense and logic. I wish that I had gone straight to the ntcc bible school and taken this bs class 27 years ago. I would have seen the ntcc leadership for the hypocrites they are and left, instead of ruining the last 27 years of my life. We think your blog smog more clearly reveals your own twisted heart thus:

"It reveals the hypocrisy of those who are highly revered towards people that leave because they disagree with ntcc doctrines!"

or, as kekel stated, "I consider them my enemies!"  WOW!

Driving Wedges Part 1: NTCC 'Leaders' Sow Discord and Drive Wedges, Breaking Up Marriages, and Families, and Friendships

In a recently deleted article that m c kekel was ashamed to have on his supposed church-blog, m c kekel said:

"creeping among you, ostensibly as your friends, while sowing discord and driving wedges." -- m c kekel, ntcc ceo

kekel made this false accusation against people who have left the ntcc.  It is a typically cultish, baseless, and broad-brush accusation with nothing to back it.  But kekel makes this accusation hoping to instill fear in his followers (and they are more aptly described as followers of mikey, than followers of Jesus)...  Yes, kekel makes these statements to drive wedges into the hearts of his followers to persuade them to forsake any friend or family member who no longer attends the ntcc.  And then kekel tries to deny that the ntcc is a cult?  Please, people, let's put on our thinking caps and consider this:

If your cult leader demands loyalty to him and his cult above all other things, you are in a cult that has become your idol and taken Jesus off the throne of your heart where Jesus should be.  If you say you are a Christian, your first loyalty should be to Christ.  You should keep His commandment to love one another.   Jesus did not say love those who attend only the ntcc cult!

kekel is driving wedges and separating members of the body of Christ from one another; because he does not want you to follow your friend out the door to freedom in Christ, freedom from man-made rules, freedom from lying hypocrites who want full control over you and your friends and family.  No, kekel can not afford to lose you just yet.  Someone has to pay his bills for him.  (And clean his wife's house for her; and do his wife's grocery shopping for her; she is soooo busy shopping at Nordstroms and Macys!)  These are facts, friends.

Friends do not take advantage of you.  Friends do not play you by emotionally abusing you and accusing you of not loving God if you don't come and worship them by doing things for them that they can and should do for themselves!  Manipulators do that.  Despisers do that.  Let's get the facts straight!

kekel and davis are manipulators and despisers!  They only pretend to be your friend long enough to get what they want from you.  Then they despise you (literally set you at nought) and throw you away like a used diaper wipe.  Fact.
If the cash stops flowing, they will send an "Overseer" to find out why and get the cash rolling again, even if that means replacing you.
When was the last time kekel or davis called you just to chat as friends?  When was the last time they helped you change the oil in your car?  Have they called and wished you a Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary?  Do they even know what city you live in or where you have been working for them?  All they know is if the cash stops flowing, they will send an "Overseer" to find out why and get the cash rolling again, even if that means replacing you.  Facts.

Who is sowing discord?  kekel and davis sow discord between husbands and wives as they separate married couples by driving the wedge of cult-imposed sterility through their vasectomy 'policy' [rule] and devil-inspired man-made lie that they teach, claiming that "children hinder the work of GAWD."
kekel and davis sow discord and separate married couples by driving the wedge of cult-imposed sterility through ntcc's vasectomy rule... claiming "children hinder the work of GAWD" even though the man who taught that adopted a daughter...
creeping amoung you, ostensibly as your friends tanya kekel and verna davis will call your wife while you are out earning the money that pays them to make that call.  As you sweat and labor, they are whispering in your wife's ear that she should leave you to marry a "real man of God"....

davis and kekel are promoting cult-endorsed adultery, encouraging your spouse to leave you and get a divorce for non-biblical reasons!  They want to make your spouse and the next person who marries your spouse adulterers; as the Bible clearly teaches that people who obtain divorce for reasons other than fornication and remarry are adulterers.  I did not write the  Bible.  You know that is what it says.
Leaving ntcc does not automatically make one an unbeliever!
Well what about the verse about "if the unbelieving depart the brother or sister is not under bondage"... True.  But leaving ntcc does not automatically make one an unbeliever.  Nor does it give the remaining ntcc spouse a green-light to remarry within the ntcc.  Face it folks, ntcc is not God.  Leaving ntcc does not equal leaving God.  Or it should not.  In fact, many find a much sweeter and closer walk with the Lord after getting rid of the ntcc false doctrines of devils.
ntcc is not God.  Leaving ntcc does not equal leaving God!  Or it should not...
Furthermore verna davis and tanya kekel should never counsel you on who to marry or divorce.  There is no scriptural basis for that. I've never read in the bible of one person asking Paul the Apostle who they could talk to, date, or marry.  The bible never records one instance where Peter the Apostle told a single man he could not talk to a single woman; because she was going to bible school; and he was still in the Army.

The fact that davis and kekel even get involved in these matters makes me think they are busy-bodies!  They have too much time on their hands; because you and your wife do all their work for them.   They limit whom you can and can't date by making rules about who talks to whom. They are match-making.  And when one spouse realizes what a farce the ntcc is, ntcc then starts to drive in those vasectomy and divorce wedges???!!!
They limit whom you can and can't date by making rules about who talks to whom. They are match-making!
And davis sows discord amoungst fellow building crew members to see who he can use the most, making fun of Russ Mears, saying, "That man has all the fire of a fire-fly."  Using this cheap-shot behind Russ's back to see who [Dustin Smart] is the most ambitious and willing to throw a friend under the bus by laughing at this comment in order to suck-up to davis.  Facts.

Face it people, you are being played as fools every day you stay and pay your tribute to davis and kekel.  Friends don't talk bad about you.  Friends spend time with you.  Friends reciprocate.  And friends will tell you the hard cold facts and let you think about it.

  • Friends don't talk bad about you.
  • Friends spend time with you.
  • Friends reciprocate.
  • And friends will tell you the hard cold facts and let you think about it.

Why are the X-men such a threat?

kekel  is like a politician.  He can't run a positive campaign because the truth exposes his lies.  And what do politicians do to cover up their own lies?  They lie about their opponents and sling mud at them, often calling them names like "X-men"  to demean or belittle them!
Every time I visit the mc kekel blog, I feel like I need to take a shower.  It's like rummaging through a bunch of used clothes at a yard sale with your bare hands.  On my last visit, I noticed that everything got deleted in Holy Spirit power; or perhaps it got deleted because kekel's comments were so outlandish that they made him look hateful; which is not a good image for an ntcc senior board member, ceo or whatever his title is now; although it is a lasting image that many have of ntcc leadership figures.  So, now kekel wants a new image for his blog and wants to change it from a negative blog to a positive blog.  I'm trying my hardest not to stick my finger down my throat as I'm writing this; because this negative campaigning is precisely what kekel goes on to do in his following article entitled "A Contrast in Character".  Then kekel continues to rail against us with his next article, "Who Are the X-men".  Don't worry Jeff, once your copier get's repaired (since kekel thought it was broken), you will still be busy; because kekel can not help himself.  His time is consumed with hatred toward us X-ers; because we are affecting his money flow and his bottom line.  He is like a politician.  He can't run a positive campaign because the truth exposes his lies.  And what do politicians do to cover up their own lies?  They lie about their opponents and sling mud at them, often calling them names like "X-men" to demean or belittle them!
It's called  COMPROMISE;  and I never thought I'd see so much of it at ntcc.  Advertising on the "devil vision", watching the "devil vision", using the "sinnernet"... ntcc used to preach against television and the internet.  But ntcc has COMPROMISED!
I think the X-ers are taking their toll on ntcc.  But I have an idea how ntcc might recover from this 'travesty'.  How about not allowing any more "hit and run" anonymous posters on their blog?  That has got to be the cause of many well grounded ntcc'ers leaving the borg.  Right?  As long as kekel keeps devoting 75% or more of his blog to X-men there will always be plenty of fodder for us to discuss.  When I first saw m c kekel's blog, I was shocked that he had so much spare time on his hands for damage control and that he even had to expend large amounts of effort responding to X-ers.  Back when I was part of the borg, that would have been considered a sin in itself, to even give people with opposing views the time of day.  But now, I guess, the cost of living has increased, and ntcc attendance is down, and so are the offering$.  People are more skeptical then ever; and cult practices are just not the 'in' thing any more.  Can you imagine the ntcc response:  "OH, NO, WHAT DO WE DO NOW?"  It's called COMPROMISE; and I never thought I'd see so much of it at ntcc.  Advertising on the devil vision, watching the devil vision, using the sinnernet, women wearing pants and going to gyms wearing spandex, and now all of the sudden organized sports and boys playing football in tights hanging out with cheerleaders (which wear less clothing today than Hooters girls).
If kekel and ntcc would have kept their standards and not told numerous lies about us and what we say and what we stand for, I would cut them some slack.  But the damage that they cause in peoples' lives for monetary gain is unreal.
If kekel and ntcc would have kept their standards and not told numerous lies about us and what we say and what we stand for, I would cut them some slack.  But the damage that they cause in peoples' lives for monetary gain is unreal.  If you are a new ntcc'er and stumbled across this site, (Or perhaps God led you here because He doesn't want you to waste years of your life!  Or maybe you are wondering what on earth is going on in your new found faith and religion.),  please ask yourself and your so-called pastor some tough questions.  Recognize the warning signs.  Save yourself many years of grief and don't allow ntcc to turn you into a drone. Type the word cult into your browser and see if the definitions and descriptions that come up don't mirror the doctrines and practices of the ntcc.  If they do, run as fast and as far as you can away from ntcc, or if you don't want to run, just get up and walk out of one of their services and see if you are not labelled a sinner.   Either way you will be doing yourself a huge favor.  Find a church that helps the afflicted and does something positive for those that are less fortunate.

"Best Movies I've Ever Seen" - Ange
Until next time the "X-men" will be around to use our powers of persuasion to shine the light on the truth.  We will not tire nor let up in our quest to free all present and former ntcc members of the fears that have been falsely planted in their minds that they are going to hell if they leave ntcc or say anything bad about it's leadership.  We will be here as a beacon of truth to remind all that we are not going to allow men to manipulate us any more for monetary gain.  We will point out the method's of our enemies and study their ways so that we can be vigilant; and if, in the end, we can help one soul escape from the cultish organization called ntcc, we will have made the world a better place!

Note:  We don't own the X-Men name or image.  But we find it an honor to be put in the class with those persecuted for being gifted. The X-MEN, in case you didn't watch the movies, were the HEROES in the story, protecting mankind from unnatural evil.  Until next time, we are the X-ERS; and we stand UNITED!

Today's Topic: LOVE?

Of all the attributes of God there are none that surpass love. Love is an emotion that I have been experiencing in large quantities lately most of which I would classify as Agape love which is the love of God. The love that my new wife and I share was placed in our hearts by God; and although the NTCC likes to teach that love between man and wife is mostly carnal, I disagree. When we were separated by NTCC I felt great loss; and my walk with God suffered. When God brought us back together, I realized that God's Love was greater than all commandments. God's love trumps all of the do's and don'ts that the NTCC preaches but doesn't always practice. Does God still have requirements? Yes.

When Jesus walked the earth the focus wasn't on the do's and the don'ts but on Glorifying His Father in heaven, by helping the afflicted. The majority of His wrath was directed against the religious leaders of the time who went around preaching the do's and the don'ts. The rest of what Jesus did was surrounded by Love and were works of faith like healing the sick, raising the dead and feeding the multitudes, etc...

Jesus said, "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men to me". He didn't say if we invite 1000 people out to church every week, or wear white shirts and wing tips all the time, or pay our tithe and give in offerings, or live a holiness lifestyle, or rest on Sunday, or any other works doctrine that you preach. While there is a place for these things, they are not supposed to be the focus of the church.

NTCC has their priorities mixed up. There are so many true stories of missionaries and pastors of the NTCC that have struggled and suffered and done without and sacrificed to the point of not eating right and not being able to provide basic food, shelter and clothing for their families while the fat cats in Washington are living large and have every comfort and amenity imaginable. Is this love?

ntcc founder r w davis and 2nd wife verna

I talked to others from NTCC on the phone and through e-mail correspondence. Many say that speaking out against the NTCC is nonproductive and while they are willing to speak against the NTCC over the phone or in private, they seem very hesitant about getting involved with reading this blog or others like it. My stand is a whole lot different. NTCC is a Cult. They strain at a gnat and swallow a camel. They require way more out of their members then they themselves are willing to give. Hypocrisy does not get any more hypocritical than this.

These are the ones that Jesus preached against. The damage that they are causing in people's hearts and lives is unbelievable. There are many people in and out of NTCC that feel hopelessly lost and that there is no way out. They have been used, lied to, preached at, emotionally and spiritually abused, separated from loved ones including spouses and children. If a wife disagrees with the NTCC they are scolded publicly and scorned by the so called "man of God" and eventually ran off while the husband is praised for surviving the ordeal. But don't let your guard down because even though you have sacrificed your family, your turn to be kicked to the curb is coming. When you have been totally used up and can't pray or feel God any more and are at your lowest point in life, you will also be discarded. You have outlived your usefulness.

As for me and my house, we will preach love. It's too late for NTCC to tell me that they are the only true church; that they preach the only true Gospel; that any time you say anything against them you are blaspheming God's Church. I got set free after years of condemnation experienced from leaving the cult. God redeemed me and delivered me from all of the things that NTCC used to say you can and cannot do; but what is greater is that God placed his love in my heart; and it is a love that surpasses all understanding and transcends all outward works.

While my words may sound harsh, it is necessary because people are suffering needlessly in the NTCC. We are now in the information age; and even though this is considered the "sinnernet", somebody might see this and wake up. I'm not making fun of anyone; because I was once asleep and oblivious to the deception of NTCC. If you would take a close, close look at what they are doing, you would see something isn't right. I felt it while I was a member but refused to look at it. There IS life after NTCC. God has not forsaken you. Let God's love speak louder than man's preaching.

Don
