YOUR CHILDREN ARE NOT WELCOME in NTCC

 Why was it okay for
 kekel's kid to play ball?
 But a 'sin' for yours?
We've all heard davis rant how YOUR "children hinder the work of Gawd"; and we know how davis forced all infants out of church into a nursery, teaching his bs students, "I'd never have a church without a nursery."    One time at the campground, during a small service of only building crew members, davis had verna remove grant-o from a service because the toddler called out "Paw Paw" (grandpa).  You get the idea that davis hates kids.  Unlike the Savior; Who commanded the disciples to allow little children to come to Him; and He laid His hands on them and blessed them.

Then there were the years before grant kekel's birth when children had to be perfect little ministers sitting silently and motionless through long services geared only for adults.  Once grant came along, however, the davis-deity pendulum swung the other way and all children were forced into the childrens' church venue...  Basically, in NTCC even children were not exempt from dangerous davis dogma.

One former minister testified to seeing davis jack-up a young teenage girl for playing sports as her parents stood by in silence and allowed it; the girl was in tears when davis was done with her.  But nobody peeped when grant kekel was playing football (#72) and basketball with his private academy's "Tarriers" team (to the tune of $20,000 a year; we might add.)

Charles Wright Academy #1 video link

Let's look at the bible and contrast God's heart to davis-dogma.
Most are familiar with John the Baptist.  God prophesied of his birth, the voice of one crying in the wilderness.  Before his birth, John's parents, Elisabeth and Zacharias went years without having children.  In Israel this was considered a very bad thing (a reproach).  Clearly God's Word teaches that children are a blessing.  The natural tendency was for others to look down on people who had no kids as if they were doing something wrong; maybe they had sinned and were being judged by God?...

Well, God was going to remove this reproach from righteous Elisabeth and Zacharias by blessing them with a son, John the Baptist.

This morning as we discussed these things, we saw the contrast in the biblical example of viewing children as a blessing and the NTCC warped teaching that davis consantly put forth that YOUR "Children hinder the work of the Lawd."  This erroneous, hypocritical (since davis adopted tanya reynolds davis kekel) and devilish davis doctrine was the root of the vasectomy rule and was brutually reinforced by publically humiliating couples with children.   How many times have we heard davis railing on pregnant women saying, "Lady, you're gonna have to answer to Gawd for ruining your husband's ministry?"  Women, our friends and sisters in Christ, were literally in tears over this maniac's railing accusation.  Some were brow-beaten into 'soul-winning' until the point of exhaustion, puking out the car windows or on the side of the road; and one that we know of had a miscarriage because she was pushed by the NTCC 'pastor' to keep the church schedule even though she needed bedrest!  All because daddy davis reviles them (and God) by bellowing how YOUR "children hinder the work of Gawd!")

Well, coincidentally, the wife of a former NTCC minister left some comments concerning a different thread called "Grant Kekel's Land: Part of the Arizona Properties"  Here's what she said:

Convincing someone they will go to hell if they do not comply is a very powerful tool in the hands of manipulators towards those who are vulnurable. A lot of people wasted their lives in ntcc, their talent, and many missed out on their onlychance in life to have children. I was just thinking today about Katie Pellicia who was so brainwashed by ntcc, she actually considered and asked those above her about getting her tubes tied... at the incredible age of 21 or 23, early twenties.

I'm currently attending culinary school. Do you know what my chef/teacher always tells me? Family comes first. Take care of your family before you try and squeeze anymore classes in. I've talked with a therapist about my marriage and she clearly saw how marraige was to benefit the church - it was not about us. That's why I wasn't even allowed to sit by my husband in the serviceman's home and why I wasn't even allowed to participate in church activities such as "soul winnin" with him. It's why military couples have to get to the brink of divorce before they can take a break from the so called "godly" work and schedule.

My oldest son said many of those he knew thought he was extremely lucky when his step-dad finally decided to stop going and I (who had been patiently waiting because I did not want to lose him) happily agreed. Ask the real estate agent Cheryl Merz about how much ntcc children can do and why she feels she has to swoop in with her big money and pay for these children to go to chuckie cheese or just have a little fun because their parents are so broke.

Nicole said:
Your children are all you truly have in this life. I cherish mine more than life itself. I have saving accounts set up and I take them to classes to enrich their lives and help them learn things that may have not fit into the church schedule before. They play sports and they are learning how to have a happy well balanced life.

Wow!!!! Thanks for telling us about some of your experience and what you learned.   We think people don't realize the devastation NTCC inflicted on others. If it helps one person avoid the NTCC, to us, it is worth it.

We want people considering NTCC to know this group's history.  We want the kids who went through this mess to know:  YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG!  We want the parents to wake up and consider what you are asking or have asked of your children.  We know there are powerful mind control mechanisms well entrenched in the NTCC CULTure.  We know how people can be convinced to do things that really harm their families and their lives in this unhealthy NTCC environment.  We want people to start viewing their lives and ask:

What does God want?
What does God's Word teach?

If davis-doctrine or any other doctrine does not line up with the Word of God, chuck it.  Set yourself free by knowing the Truth.  Jesus is the Truth and the Word of God.  Study.  Pray.  Act.  We know when you do this, God will lead you out of the NTCC to a place where YOUR children are welcome and willing to accept the grace of Christ rather than a set of rules that push them away, restrict their freedom, and hinder their relationship with the Lord.

Law vs. Grace

In a thread titled, "Don't Smash Those Pennies" the Administrator of Religious Cults Info blog examines the law vs. grace found in mind control groups.  Check it out for yourself.  See if you recognize similarities between ntcc and woff.  Are we truly saved by grace?  Or do we keep returning to rules like a bad penny comes back again and again?  We can be free from the law by remembering what Debbie Reed shared on her blog, One Less Stone: "I Still Need A Savior"

The Unforgiven

 Are You Unforgiven?
An Anonymous comment was left on a previous thread entitled Return to Normalcy Toolkit:

"Don, that must be some of the best advice post-NTCC that I've ever read. De-programming is a slow process and we were taught to act and react in certain ways. Hopefully over time we can become less critical and more loving and more like Christ."

Our response turned into a comment long enough to be a thread so we will make it a new thread.

Don and Ange said:

"I'm not an expert by any stretch, but for me the de-programming took place during when I left the ntcc and God.  For 14 years I learned that the best way to de-program was to be free from it all. I learned the hard way; but much of it worked.  I did many of the things on this list except for that which pertained to serving God.

When I did come back to God, there was a new struggle.  The first step in this process was to realize that God still loved me.  He wasn't sitting up in heaven with lightning bolts waiting to strike me down.  God wanted me back.  Then I had to look at that huge portion of my life spent in the ntcc and try to sort out the good from the bad.  Recognizing that the ntcc was a cult was easy for me at this point.  They were not interested in getting me back; God was.  They were not interested in loving me any more; God was.  If you don't believe this, try crawling back to them and see how accepting and forgiving they are. Oh sure, you'll get the same old love-bombing they used to 'win' you into ntcc; but they will never really trust you.  Like davis often says, "I forgive; but I don't forget!"  Well, I've got news for him:  God was ready to forgive me immediately; and God forgets!!

What's really cool about God is that He loves us and deals with us on a personal level.  I never dreamed that God would ever care about me again.  I was programmed to believe that there would never be any hope for me.  People that leave the ntcc believe this also.  It seems so hopeless; but when you feel the love of God in your life again it erases all the erroneous teachings, all the poor examples of ntcc style Christianity that make people so critical of others.  We were De-eXisted by the ntcc because we were no longer of use to them.  They practice the opposite of everything that God is all about.

Instead of loving people they see them for what value those people can be to ntcc's program.  Instead of comforting folks they instill fear in them.  Instead of helping people they use them for stepping stones to become more like the greedy leaders they serve.  They don't practice Christian values.  They call themselves the Children of God and everyone else is a sinner.  Their only interest in the sinner is to convert them into individual stacks of money.  This is what they are after.  Rwd doesn't want to help anyone, in fact every time I've sought spiritual advise from him he'd just pass the buck and say "Pray."

You can pray and pray and pray, as I did; but if you don't have the love and support of the leaders that demand respect and loyalty from you, you find yourself on a one-way dead end road. There is no where to go. You pray; but they won't change.

It's like going to the SPCA and rescuing a dog.  The dog loves you because his previous conditions were deplorable.  You pet the dog and feed him and in turn that dog is grateful that he is no longer living in a disease infested prison waiting to be euthanized.  You allow the dog to live in the house and show it attention every day; and that dog in turn loves you unconditionally.  It follows you around.  It waits for you to come home from work.  It greets you in the morning when you wake up.  The dog loves you and asks for nothing in return but to be part of your life.

At some point the dog has an accident or does something that makes you mad.

A cruel person would chain the dog to a dog house and feed and water it, and tell everyone, "This is my dog".  The dog of course doesn't understand.  He used to be part of your life, now he sees you for five minutes a day and spends his life pacing back and forth.  Many times he runs out of water and doesn't get enough food.  He has ticks and mosquito bites and still all he really wants is love.

Some dog owners  will take that same dog for a ride.  The dog thinks, this is great he's letting me out of my prison; he loves me again; but something is wrong.  There is no love.  They'll drive for an hour and drop the dog off on the side of the road and speed off.  The dog waits, and waits.  The dog can't understand what happened to the love He once knew.  How could they do this? The dog then wanders around lost not knowing where his next meal is going to come from, not knowing if he'll ever be loved again. The dog doesn't have survival skills because he was taught to depend on those he loved for everything. Perhaps something horrible will befall him like being torn apart by a wild animal or getting hit by a car.

Rejected and Abused
I was like this dog.  I loved the ntcc and the people that were in it.  I was taught to trust them and depend on them.  But I also loved God.  When these people left me on the side of the road I wandered around and had no peace in my heart.  I wondered over and over how they could be so cold and cruel.  I didn't blame them or God; but I equated their love for God's love.  I thought if they don't love me anymore than neither does God.  This was my mistake; and this is what caused me so many years of grief.

God is Love; the ntcc leadership is not.  They teach you not to love and not to forgive.  They laugh at grace and mercy and tout individual responsibility and works.  The ntcc does not try to reconcile folks unless it profits ntcc.  The only thing that we are trying to get across to folks in the ntcc is that God loves you and doesn't want you to waste anymore of your life.  God doesn't want you to become like those you honor and trust.  God want's you to become more like Him.  He wants you to have love and grace and mercy and peace in your life.

The Dog may never trust a human again and may never find the love he once knew.  We are not dogs but we were created with a soul that was made to love God.  We were loved and always will be loved by God.  The ntcc has failed.  As an organization they have left their first love and they no longer have any compassion, mercy or love. If they did, they would stand up against the establishment and do what is right.  God is walking to and fro among them looking for someone that will stand for what is right.  They can ignore us on the outside and say we are just bitter; but if a significant number on the inside that would unite and stand for what they once knew to be right, they could make a huge difference.  To the ntcc you will become as we are:  "The Unforgiven".

But to God, we are Precious, a peculiar people, a Holy Priesthood, washed in His blood; because God so loved us that He gave His only begotten Son...

Part 2: ntcc Holiness Or Hell: What's the Difference? (The Pork Chop Whiskers Hall Of Fame)

"Whiskers"
The Gloating Cat

A moment ago, while posting a comment on the previous thread, the word "holiness" came to mind; and I had to write a new thread; because it dawned on me that there is little difference in the "Holier than Thou" attitude projected by the ntcc leadership and that of the Pharisees. It's not really holiness that is in question here; but it is the policies and doctrines of the ntcc that are very hard to swallow. Holiness that is preached to the masses at the ntcc is based on a few scriptures that deal with customs and what was considered to be appropriate attire and hair length: dressing modestly, long hair on women, and short hair on men. These scriptures were given little emphasis compared to many other subjects in the New Testament; but they were mentioned. From these few scriptures the leadership of the ntcc and its founder have created the "davis doctrine" which encompasses a whole lot more than hair length and dresses on women, and loose fitting pants on men. Let's look at the differences in what God says in His word and what the davis doctrine has to say.

For the purpose of this comparison we are going to use New Testament scriptures. For those of you who don't know this, we are living under the New Testament; hence the name new testament christian churches of america, inc.

1. Modest apparel: 1Tim 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array

The subject of modest apparel is mentioned one time in the New Testament and is not kept, nor has it ever been kept by the ntcc leadership. Let's take a look at the ntcc leadership to see how they "lead the way" in this category. Modest apparel....hmmm. How often have we seen tanya kekel looking like jello poured into a ziplock baggy? What's the difference? Okay so maybe she outgrew her clothing at the time and now she's no longer doing that. We'll give her the benefit of doubt. This Scripture is also used by the ntcc to preach against jewelry. Gold and pearls. It's okay to wear diamond wedding rings and for the men to wear pinky rings? What's the difference? Costly array: Should we even go there?  Lets go there. For this segment we have to look at the leadership of the ntcc to find rebellion against God's word; because the lowly members are made to shop at kook stores and other second hand venues such as flea markets and garage sales; where you have to wash you hands at your earliest convenience; because the clothes are so filthy and stink so bad. Just take a look at how the leadership of the ntcc is adorned in costly array. With their tailored white shirts and gold cuff-links, their expensive silk ties and Hart Schaffner and Marx suits that cost more than a set of new tires on the luxury cars they drive. And the women in their get-ups with Alpaca scarves that cost more than dinner for 6 at the Red Lobster. They shop at the expensive stores and buy dresses and outfits made of the best materials that money can buy. While we were shopping at kook stores and garage sales; they were shopping at Nordstroms and Nieman Marcus; and those are the 'lower end' places that they shop, especially with the internet available; where Saks Fifth Avenue or Rodeo Drive choices are available. What's the difference?

2. Hair Length: 1 Cor 11:14,15 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given to her for a covering.

These two verses are all that can be found in the new testament that specify hair length and cover both men and women on the topic. I know the ntcc just loves to preach about this topic as if it were the most important subject in the bible. Don't ever ask the question, "How short is short?" or "How long is long?"; unless you want to get thoroughly jacked up. If you have to ask that question than your heart must be full of compromise and the desire for sin. Whatever. No where in either of these scriptures is an exact length specified. The ntcc makes that decision for you by jacking you up if you are a man and your hair gets too long. I believe that common sense is implied here; and that if it were an offense that places people in hell that God would have been more specific about it.  Have you ever noticed that the control mechanisms that the ntcc has created are way more restrictive on women than they are on men? Case in point: The scripture says a woman is to have long hair. No where in the bible does it say that it can't be cut. It's supposed to cover her head; and it's a glory to her when it is long. They have to use cult code words like "chopped off" and "bobbed off" to make it seem exceedingly sinful. In vs. 5-7 it speaks about being shaved or shorn but that refers to her being shaved bald. Of course this also is argued by the ntcc; because if they can't convince women to not cut their hair than they lose a control mechanism. What's the difference? If a woman gets her hair trimmed and prays to God is she going to "split hell wide open" faster than the woman who never gets her hair cut? It's also alright for a woman that has short hair that won't grow to wear wigs so they can put on a facade and pretend to be someone they are not. Just ask verna. Sounds like too much emphasis on the outward appearance to me. Mt. 23:5 "They make broad their Phylacteries and enlarge the borders of their garments". What's the difference? "Look at us, we are working our way into heaven." "We are special above all other people of the land." The Pharisees live for the praises of their own people and not that of God. I know that many people are not like this and not doing it for the same reasons; but what's the difference?

3. Lasciviousness: Gal 5:19 "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleaness, lasciviousness

This word that the ntcc uses to preach at men and woman can be found 6 times in the New Testament and is defined in it's original text all six times as: unbridled lust, excess, licentiousness, lasciviousness, wantoness, outrageousness, shamelessness and insolence. Also, wanton acts or manners, filthy words, indecent bodily movements, unchaste handling of males and females.

You have to look up definitions of words used to define lascivious to link it to the way people dress. That's okay, lets go down this road. Although the word describes behavior more than a dress code I believe that if you dress obscenely you can fall into that category. It's listed with some pretty bad sins; so again let's use a little common sense here. If a man wears shorts that don't draw attention to his private region are they still lascivious? If a man (kekel's son) wears football pants that are made out of spandex and conform to every curvature of his anatomy, no matter how small, is that lascivious? What's the difference? You be the judge. Shorts nowadays are not cut like the basketball shorts of the 70's. They are knee length and usually fit loosely not exposing the private parts of a man and woman; although women today tend to wear their clothes tighter than men do. Some men like to wear pants and shorts that fall off their butts and expose themselves in a perverse way. I say common sense has to rule here. If a woman wears a dress that in ntcc makes her look modest but you can still see her calves, what is the difference if a man wears shorts down to his knees that fit right and you can see his calves? If you are lusting after calves and elbows you have issues and need God to perform a miracle in your heart. I say the problem is in the heart and not in the outward appearance. All that being said, I have no problem with people living the ntcc's version of holiness if it's of their own free will. But who cares what I think? It's when they flaunt it and say, "Look at how great we are living in comparison to the rest of the world!". Is this really "holiness" as God intended for it to be in the bible?

Would Jesus Wear A Beard?
Don aka "Porkchop Whiskers"

Try showing up to conference in a beard or mustache and see how that goes for you. Jesus would not be welcome in the ntcc, unless He was willing to shave it off. I've been referred to as Pork Chop Whiskers by those in the ntcc; because they feel they need something to lash out at. That's okay. I can take it. I have thick skin. I learned how to be an outcast when I was in the ntcc. I learned how to dress like a dork, while I was in the ntcc. Next time you think you are so much holier than all those around you, take a look at the Amish and the Mennonites and the Quakers:
They put you to shame with their outward appearance. If you are going to use the same old mantra that "There is no such thing as being too holy." then have the women wear their dresses down to the ground; and cover your elbows, stop wearing wedding rings, and pinky rings, and Alpaca scarves, and all the other junk you wear.

5. Make-up: 1 dav 1:2 If thou paintest thy face thou shalt surely die and go to hell.

This scripture is found no where in the new testament but only in the book of Davis. He refers only to Jezebel painting her face; but nowhere does it say in the entire bible that women can't use make up. Can we bring common sense into the equation again? It's been shared that board members' wives in the ntcc use foundation and wrinkle cream. What's the difference?

What's the difference? This question can be applied to all of the man-made rules and policies of the ntcc. What is the difference in watching tv and listening to audio books with the same stories and language? What's the difference between playing basketball or football with sinners or going over to kekel's house and playing volleyball? What's the difference between staying in touch with family members and letting them know that you love them and are genuinely concerned about them and doing the same for your church contacts? What's the difference in listening to southern gospel and contemporary Christian music? Whose opinions are you going to follow? What's the difference in having a tv or devilvision and watching a good movie and kekel doing the same thing on a computer monitor with a dvd player. Does the ntcc have a monopoly on discretion? What's the difference in kekel going to a dog show and you owning a dog?  What's the difference in kekel going to a bluegrass festival and you going to a country music concert at the park? What's the difference in the ntcc leadership spiritually abusing you over and over again and a wife beater that physically beats his wife over and over again. I think I'd rather receive physical beatings than what I received in the ntcc. What's the difference?

The common denominator between the ntcc and a fiefdom or dictatorship, is that the 'leader' makes harsh rules that others must obey; but that the 'leader' does not follow. In fiefdoms and dictatorships, this double standard and hypocrisy is expected. But such double standards (two sets of rules) and hypocrisy (saying one thing, while living something else) have no place in Christianity. Chirst led by example. He never asks us to do anything that He Himself has not done or is not willing to do. That's the difference between Christ and the ntcc leadership. Frankly, Christ is the One we all need to follow; not the ntcc hypocrites who "say and do not". Jesus walked the walk. ntcc 'leaders' only talk the talk. Let's not be talkers; but walk in the path Jesus laid out for us.

Holiness or Hell? Part 1

During our combined twenty two + plus years in the ntcc, we have heard the term "Holiness or Hell" used from behind the pulpit, during bible studies, and in general conversation many times.  Without going into our own personal opinions and convictions that might agree or disagree with the ntcc on many holiness issues, we think that it is important to get down to the root of the problem or matter however you might see it.

My issue with holiness preachers has nothing to do with the content of holiness teachings but with the way it comes across.  With the ntcc every thing comes across the pulpit as:

  • "Do or Die."
  • "My Way or the Highway!"
  • "Heaven or Hell!"
  •  etc...

But they also throw around the question,

  • "What would Jesus do?"

That is a great question; and one we all should strive to achieve.  I do not ever remember Jesus saying follow me or you will die and go to hell.  It seemed to me that the ones that followed him did so more so out of love than fear.

The reason that the ntcc is so cut and dry on many issues is that they are a cult.
They use these teachings as ultimatums:

  • to gain more control
  • to create fear
  • to make their group seem more elite
  • to make it harder to obtain membership in their exclusive club

This is a very dangerous road to travel down; because the group that usually gets excluded are the people that are the opposite of proud, the least of God's children, and the ones that are the most easily offended. The ntcc have said in the past that "It's God's word that is offending them not our preaching."  By saying this they are displaying their lack of forgiveness and a judgmental attitude that runs many off; in spite of the fact that they do preach Christ crucified. It's counter-productive to introduce holiness or hell after you just got done preaching Jesus' blood or hell.

While there are many teachings in the bible that are the "do's and don'ts" of Christianity there are also teachings that we adhere to that are not all "cut and dry".  Many things in the bible apply to customs of the time and Old Testament Law.  Tithe is a concept that has absolutely no supporting New Testament Scripture; but it is a huge part of ntcc's teaching; because in ntcc tithe is used to separate Christians from sinners and to distinguish those that are saved from those who are not.  And, more importantly to the ntcc, tithe is used to gain revenue ($$$$$$).  Not only do they hammer tithe; but they add all kinds of offerings and use more cult loaded jargon to guilt people to give.  There were many times that I was encouraged to give more than I could; and it was done in a way that made me feel that if I didn't pledge money that I didn't have that I lacked the faith to trust God [manipulation].  Now, I'm finding out that what I did give was funding the higher-ups' lifestyle more than it was helping those for whom the money was designated.  I do not have any problem with somebody paying their tithe; but when it is preached as a stipulation to being saved it takes the blessing away from the giver; and I have to say that there is no scriptural evidence that supports this teaching.

The same applies with holiness teaching.  If someone is taught holiness or hell, it makes holiness an ultimatum and people live it out of fear instead of love.  Most of what the ntcc preaches and teaches is not necessarily un-biblical, although some of it is; but it is the way in which they erupt from the pulpit and spew out ultimatums that makes it wrong.  I could take a dog that dumps on the carpet and stick its nose in it and beat the dog until it can barely walk; and it fears me every time I come near it.  Or I can choose a method like putting a dog door in the house and showing the dog his mess, give the dog some verbal reprimand and possibly a small swat to get his attention and then put him through the dog door.  I wonder which method works the best with Christians?  I wonder which method would bring in the most money into the offering plates?  I wonder if holiness was not preached as a prerequisite to make it into heaven if you might find more takers?

Part of the problem that I have with the ntcc's preaching is that they add to and take away from true holiness.  The ntcc's stand on facial hair on men is not scriptural in any way and has no place being preached as a requirement to being a Christian whether or not it is implied or in the form of public rebuke.  Is not holiness an outward appearance for an inward work?  How does the ntcc's stand on encouraging divorce not apply to "holiness or hell" preaching?  It seems like this is allowed because it would call into question the legitimacy of the entire organization, its founder, and the reasons he started a cult instead of adhering to the principles of the organization that would not allow him to do his own thing.   I could go into how tanya kekel dresses and how michael c. kekel has conducted himself, and whether or not football pants are lascivious, and many other questionable doctrines of  the ntcc; but I think that we have covered this sufficiently.  The holiness or hell doctrine that was preached the entire time that I was in the ntcc, which was 1983 - 1997 [Don] and 1990 -1999 [Ange], has been broken and changed many times by the ntcc leadership to cover their own shortcomings [compromise].

We have found that serving God is not supposed to be this difficult; and that God is much more forgiving than the ntcc.  We appreciate all that contribute to this blog; but we especially recognize the X-ers for what they have had to endure over the years.  We were all made to live as slaves to a machine that tried to control our thoughts and actions by the use of intimidation, public embarrassment and humiliation.  I really believe as said before that there will be a special dispensation of grace for those that had to endure this kind of spiritual abuse; and that God has not forsaken us because we have left this evil and wicked organization; but rather it is the first step in a long process of healing and definitely a move in the right direction toward inward holiness without hell being rammed down our throats.
