Caring For The Widow? Sister Linda Hasty

Linda Hasty

Today I woke up and was thinking again of Sister Linda Hasty.  Yesterday I was wondering if the ntcc had tried to grab her house, the way they did to Rich Hampton when his wife Penny left him and their four kids for Ashmore's son - read more.  Did the org step in and try to help the man  heal?  No.  They match-made him with Diana Marshall after her husband Mike left her and her sons in the Philippines. Did the org. give the newlyweds time to heal?  No.  They ordered Hampton to move to Mexico, Missouri to build a work for ntcc there in a town close to the ntcc national campground.  I don't know how things are in your world, but most people agree that when you have a wife who doesn't work (since the org. forbids married women [in the U.S.] to hold paying jobs) and you have four children, money can be tight.  Did the org. offer to help Rich Hampton make this move?  Nope.  So he put his home and land on the market.  Did ntcc recognize his dedication to God and commend him for making such a sacrifice?  Nah.  Instead, according to Vic Johanson, they tried to low-ball him by offering him less-than-market value on his property.  When he refused to sell to the ntcc, Eli (Elliot) Gesang got all upset in his grill, upbraiding him for not selling his property to the ntcc.  Does that sound Christ-like to you?  Nope.  So Rich and Diana and their kids move to Mexico, Missouri to build the ntcc church there.  Having an injured back Mr. Hampton is unable to work, and his wife Diana, who used to run her own bakery (pre-ntcc, of course) is "not allowed" to work.  So, they need a place to stay.  The workers in Mexico, the Dicksons, offer the only space they have, an old dilapidated garage.  So why is this ntcc minister and his family living in an old garage?  They have given all they have to the work of the borg.  Why didn't the ntcc let them stay at the national campground where there were hundreds of empty beds?  Why didn't the hireling who calls himself their pastor, rodger wilson davis, invite them to stay in his building on the campground called the Lodge?  It had six bedrooms, 2 and a half baths, a full kitchen, conference area, two sitting areas, fireplace etc. And that's not counting the master bedroom suite with full bath, parlour, and wrap-around balcony.  Does davis sound Christian to you, when he has the world's good and closes his bowels of compassion?  No.  We didn't think so either.  How do I know that happened?  I lived in the Lodge at this time so my husband Eric could help work on the campground along with Jan and Russ Mears.  I also knew that the Mears and Hamptons were close friends.  I believe Russ went to bat for Rich and asked davis to allow them to stay at the Lodge; but instead davis left them in a garage with oil soaked rags that I saw with my own two eyes and mystified broken heart.

So what does this have to do with Linda Hasty?  You may ask that.  But it has everything in the world to do with Linda.  The fact is, the org. called ntcc cares nothing at all for you.  They have demonstrated it over and over again throughout the years.  The Hampton's Homeless illustration is just one of many ntcc stories of abuse.  So I am well within the mark to wonder about Linda Hasty and how she has been treated by this real estate corporation that masquerades as a non-profit church called New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc. LLC.

I also wondered, today, if the org. had convinced Linda to relocate.  My first three guesses would be Graham, WA, St. Louis, MO, or Phoenix, AZ.  If not, my next guess would be that the org might send in a few carefully selected single brothers to take over the Louisville ntcc church, or send some revival preaching divorced brothers in hopes of match-making this widow as quickly as possible, to keep her in the organization while freeing the church from having to provide for her.  That sounds nasty, doesn't it?  Well, don't hate us.  I mean, you can if you want; but truly the hate or blame should be aimed at the perpetrators who do such things, the ntcc 'leadership'.  They really do match-make people and manipulate relationships as a reward or bonus to keep certain individuals in the borg.  You don't think so?  Think again.  Open your eyes.  Why do you think so many of you men have been single for ten, twenty, thirty plus years, while davis and kekel kronies who work in the office or on the building crew have two or three ntcc brides?  Hmmn?  Why does the borg require you to get permission before speaking to members of the opposite gender?  Why does the ntcc regulate dating down to a controlled conversation on a wall in the fellowship hall?  It is manipulation.  Please don't try to tell me they are trying to protect you.  That is such a lie.  They have repeatedly covered up situations of spouse and child abuse; and that has been testified to on the various blogs and Factnet (see related posts at the bottom of this article for more info).  They don't care about you.  Single women are used like a bone for a dog, to be a reward for the men the ntcc wants to keep around.  Period.  The non-existent dating situation in ntcc is so bad, and without any Christian integrity.  Men have literally lined up to get permission to talk to women whose husbands are separated but not divorced.  That's not Christian.  Neither is the ntcc system.

So, I certainly did wonder how Linda Hasty is doing and how the borg is trying to handle her.  From past experience I have witnessed numerous times all of these things described here.  My questions are legitimate and without malice.  I sincerely wonder how is this widow woman doing?  From what I have seen in the past, I fear for what the ntcc may try to do to her, when instead they should be caring for her.  But caring for the widow, fatherless and orphan is not the ntcc way.  And if they have repented and done something right, then thank an Xer for eXposing the ntcc skeletons and shaming them into repentance!

Forgiveness

Picture of Dandelion's Seeds Being Released Into The Wind.

Forgiveness Releases Seeds That Produce Fruit

We all know that Grace is the unmerited love and favor of God.  One of the most coveted attributes of God is forgiveness.  We all desire to be forgiven; and many of us have a lot to be forgiven of.  Today my mind began to think about mercy and forgiveness.  One of the important things that came to mind was that not only do we need God's forgiveness but we need to forgive ourselves.  The question might arise:  "How can God forgive us, if we don't forgive others"?  We have to forgive others if we expect God to forgive us.  When we forgive others, we can forgive ourselves.  Does forgiveness mean that we are walking mats?  No.

We have been very critical of the ntcc leadership, and more specifically, the founder, R.W. Davis and his son in law, M.C. Kekel.  These two men have ruined many lives of people we consider brothers and sisters.  M.C. Kekel and R.W. Davis have given themselves over to greed for money and lust for power; and in their wake they have left many people devastated.  It's difficult to forgive those who don't seek forgiveness and have every intention to continue to use people for their own greedy purposes.  Ignoring the spiritual atrocities is not the same as forgiveness.  Jesus did not ignore the Pharisees.  In fact, He dedicated much of His preaching to the Pharisees, Saducees, Lawyers and Scribes; because they were just like Davis and Kekel, in that they used and abused people for their own gains while hiding behind religion.  Jesus was willing to forgive them; but He continued to rebuke them, hoping they would repent.  They simply refused to repent, refused to accept His Grace, and failed to find His freely offered Forgiveness.

People like Olson, Ashmore, Jones, Johnson, Kinson and many others turn a blind eye to the suffering of the sheep.  They are enablers; because they contribute to the suffering and do nothing to stop the bleeding.  Many of the ordinary people in the ntcc are filled with fear; but it's a spirit that God has not given them.  The type of fear that ntcc members have is not a reverence for God; but fear that comes from not being able to forgive themselves.  It is a false condemnation that they have been trained to embrace.  Members of the ntcc are blamed for every move they make; but they are simply trying to follow the false doctrines of men that are ever changing according to the whims of the ntcc dictator.  The members are constantly beaten down and told that anything that goes wrong in their lives is their own fault.  But it really isn't.  They are told that some things are sin, even though God Himself does not view those things as sin.

How does ntcc do this?  We've all heard the cliches: "When you point one finger, there are four pointed back at you", "You are the sum total of the choices you make", "If you want to blame somebody for your failure, look in the mirror".   But all of those rebukes are coming from con-artists  that have been living high on the hog off of the blood, sweat and tears of the members, while the 'leaders' aren't leading by example; instead they are feasting with the royal butt kissers that have contributed to the suffering of the sheep.  It's a vicious cycle.

We've had that prayer meeting and asked God to forgive these men for what they are doing and what they have done; but these men have seared their conscience with a hot iron; they have no remorse for the deeds they do.  They seek no forgiveness and admit to no wrong doing.  They operate in secret and have no transparency.  They tell you what you want to hear and what they think you need to hear; but they have not repented.  They cover up their own sins, while torturing others for less.  The only thing this accomplishes is that it creates an entire group of people that can't forgive themselves; and they spend their lives trying to maintain their salvation while trying to live up to the man-made expectations of the men they worship.   Nothing is ever good enough.  They will never fully please Davis or Kekel; but they will expend all of their energy trying; and many will reach the point of physical exhaustion; and some will even die trying.  In turn, the ntcc leadership will never be satisfied with their sacrifices.

We have tried to reach out to those in the ntcc who are brave enough to defy their leaders and read this blog.  Our message to you is that there is life outside of the cult, and life more abundant.  There is a lost and dying world; but many of them are sick of religion and the hypocrisy they see in churches like the ntcc.  They are not looking to be force fed religion or made to follow a bunch of outward sacraments.  Your white shirts and wing tips are not going to win them to God, but will only push them farther away.  You might reach a few GI's or civilians that experience salvation for the first time and buy into the works doctrine pedaled by the ntcc until they learn what the bible says; but 99% of the ones that come out to your churches will be gone in 5 years; and they will have that horrid taste of religion in their mouths for many more years.

Our best advice to those still trapped in the ntcc is to get out while you still have a few good years left in your life.  Leave and don't look back.  Keep your Christianity, but rid yourself of the hypocrites and their double standards. Forgive them.  And be confident that you are forgiven.  Don't let some Pseudo-spiritual-con-artist tell you otherwise.

Rodger Wilson Davis' Doctrines of Devils

The most effective lie is that which most closely resembles the truth:

For example, satan, in the garden of Eden added only one word to the commandment God gave to Adam:

God said:

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
satan lied:
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
This single additional word, "NOT", changed this statement from a true commandment of God into a lie of the devil.

And just as satan, the opposer, does, davis also is teaching the opposite of what God wants:

God says, Children are a blessing.
davis deceives, saying, Children are a hindrance.
God says, I hate putting away.
davis says, Divorce your spouse if they don't attend ntcc.
God says, Give to the poor.
davis says, Don't give to the poor.
God says, Love your neighbor.
davis says, I don't have any friends.

Just like these examples show, davis is fighting against God by teaching false doctrines, the doctrines of devils.

Picture of Korn album cover, Follow The Leader: Children being led off precipice.
When you follow davis, can you  truly be
following God?  Or are you giving heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils?

Why do these doctrines of devils work? God said there would be such:

1Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

And just as davis teaches that repetition is a good teacher, one of the devil's most wicked servants also taught:

Photo Of Hitler with quote: "Make the lie big, Make it simple, Keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."
The New Testament Christian Churches of
America, Inc. Founder, R.W. Davis is fond
of saying "Repetition is a good teacher."!
So, how do we know what is right?

2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1 Thess 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

2 Tim 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2 Tim 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

And finally, Jesus told the disciples this witness of our Friend the Holy Spirit:

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you.

We don't need to fear men and their false doctrine.

Pro 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

We can be safe by putting our trust in the LORD.

Nevertheless the Bible instructs us there is a healthy fear, the fear of the LORD:

Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom; and to depart from evil [is] understanding.

Do you have enough understanding to depart from the evil ntcc?

2 Chronicles 19:7 Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do [it]: for [there is] no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

But in the ntcc there is no fear of the LORD; because they do have iniquity -- from pedophile pastors to oppressing the poor:
Pro 14:31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
Pro 22:16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his [riches, and] he that giveth to the rich, [shall] surely [come] to want.
In ntcc one also sees the undesirable "respect of persons" partiality-- from pastor worship to despising the poor:
Jam 2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
Finally, in ntcc there is much "taking of gifts". From luxury cars to a certain 39 acre plat of ground....  Ahem!

Sure, davis hides behind the pulpit and claims "I don't want your gifts." But in practice davis goes around seeking someone to catch his latest "hint" to buy him another gift like another Rolex watch, or Henry Rifle, or an addition to his knife collection or even to build him another mansion.... You get the idea.

Beloved, these things ought not to be so. Ye cannot serve God and mammon:
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Luk 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
So are you serving God or mammon?

Do you hate God or hate mammon?

Are you holding onto God, and despising mammon?

You cannot do both.

You have to make a choice:

Choose ye this day, whom ye will serve.

Joshua 24:15 partial And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; [...] but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Rodger Wilson Davis: The Adulterer

New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc.'s Founder: Serial Adulterer Rodger Wilson Davis, Who Claims "I can't remember the last time I sinned."
 Rodger Wilson Davis: The
Adulterer
We spoke with a man, who years ago attended the  ntcc seminary; which, at that time, was called the New Testament Christian College, in St. Louis, Missouri.  He said not long after he and his wife arrived in St. Louis, (less than a week after), they  and the couple they were staying with drove up to the church and saw a man holding a rifle on R. W. Davis.  There were loud words exchanged, and the man with the rifle and R. W. Davis left in one car, with rw driving and the other man in the back seat still holding the gun on rw.  The new bible school student, the man with whom I spoke, and the other brother he came to church with, got in their car and caught up with them; at which time rw motioned with his hand to go ahead, to move on; which they did.  Upon returning to their house, the other brother retrieved his gun and left again to find rw.

The man,  who was present and witnessed these things first hand told them to me in a phone conversation.  He told me the name of the man who held the gun on r.w. davis, and that confirmed the name I had already been told; others knew that davis had committed adultery with that man's wife (and then some).  This is the same event that I have previously discussed on The Dispatch, according to what was reported to me.  The two stories have one variation.  In The Dispatch article, those reporting the matter said that the betrayed man with the gun forced davis to kneel  and told him "You better pray."  The man on the phone did not see that.  His story, I believe, happened after davis and the betrayed man exited the church.  As the witness said, he, the other brother, and their wives had just driven up to the church (on Forest Ave.) and saw what is shared above.  In my mind, these stories are congruent and accurate, with only a slight variation in the time at which the witnesses saw their part of the event.

This true true story describes the fallout caused by the adultery that davis committed against only one family.  But there are other instances of davis slinking around doors of other mens' wives, all while these husbands were at work.  Other women have shared how they saw davis knocking on doors of young (still not legal adults) married girls who attended the bible school.  One of those young girls said davis committed illicit sexual acts with her, taking advantage of his position of trust and her naivety.  These other women present during that time witnessed davis entering this girl's home.  And, they said, davis also tried to get them to open their doors for him while their husbands were at work; but they did not do so.

Also, on a different blog, a former ntcc Bible School instructor and minister, Vic Johanson shared this testimony:

Vic Johanson said...
Speaking of RW's ways, I was talking to an NTCC escapee the other day, and he said that he was talking to a minister in his town, whose father was from St. Louis. He related that his father had donated his book collection to a startup bible college there, whose founder was implicated in some adulterous affairs shortly thereafter. He couldn't remember the name, so my friend said "might it have been Davis?" and the guy immediately replied "RW Davis."
We were just the last to find out; that information was hidden from us. All we heard was how the Carondelet church "didn't want holiness." The truth appears that they didn't want a philandering "pastor."
APRIL 05, 2012 5:05 PM
From original post at New Testament Christian Churches, The Real Story:
http://www.truestoriesoflifeinthentcc.blogspot.com/2012/03/keep-it-in-your-church-rwd-would-in.html

These multiple witnesses verify the adulterous nature of davis. He is an impenitent adulterer.  And what's worse is he condemns some men for lesser sins, while excusing others like phil kinson who have shown no indication of repentance.  God is not a respecter of persons:

Act 10:34  Then Peter opened [his] mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

He can forgive all who are willing to confess their sin; as it is written:

1Jo 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The problem with hypocrites like davis is that they feel they have no need of a physician.  They think they are better than "sinners".  They are afraid to be around them, afraid their self-righteous reputations might take a hit.  But Jesus ate with the sinners:

Mar 2:16  And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

Mar 2:17 When Jesus heard [it], he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

But davis is full of self-righteousness and pride,  boasting:

"I can't remember the last time I sinned."--r w davis brags.  But the bible says:

1John 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1John 1:10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

davis' boasting is outlandish (at best) or devilish deceit (at worst), and such boasting calls God a liar.  But the bible says God cannot lie:

Titus 1:2  In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

It is impossible for God, The Truth, to lie:

Hebrews 6:18  That by two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Stilll, some men insist on living in deceitful denial of their sin.  I, just like Alan Parsons, wouldn't want to be like them either:

I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You by The Alan Parsons Project On YouTube

Instead, we cry out:

"Sir, we would see Jesus!" - John 12:21 (partial) (here)

One day each of us will die. Will you really hear "Well done, good and faithful servant...."? Or will it be "Bind him hand and foot, ... and cast him into outer darkness...."? (Matthew 22:13)  The saddest death of all was that of Israel's first King, Saul. For he was rejected by God. (1 Sam 16:1)  Yes, King Saul had been anointed. But he refused to obey. He couldn't see who truly loved him. As a result he hunted like a dog, the man, David, who fought for God, for Israel, and for love of the very man who was trying to kill him, Saul. David would succeed Saul as King of Israel, not due to any treachery of David's; but simply because God had so ordained it. When Saul was dead, David wept and lamented the loss of Saul and Jonathan [2 Sam 1:17-27].

I've lost respect for davis and his closest followers and supporters.  But like David, I will mourn their deaths and remember what could have been or should have been.  It's not that these men were not anointed; I believe they were.  But I believe they forsook that anointing and the God Who bought them with His blood.  They wanted the world.  And just as the audio version of The Pilgrim's Progress stated:  "Those who take up Christ to gain the world, will lose Christ to keep the world."  That's how I see these men who run the business, the organization called New Testament Christian Churches of America, Inc.  They would rather keep their money, than allow God to keep them.

The first video, a mash-up of Alan Parsons' "I Robot" and "I Wouldn't Want to be Like You" contains a screen shot (~5:57-6:00~) of the movie, "I, Robot" starring Will Smith.  The subtitle reads "One man saw it coming."  How fitting.  One man saw it coming, and didn't want to be like you, r.w.!

In Case You Were Wondering:
If so many people know about these acts of adultery, why haven't they come forward?  It seems that for some reason folks have largely remained silent about this.  Perhaps they discussed it more in different forums.  Perhaps they are trying to protect the victims.  Yet God had His servants record in the bible both  the names of  Bathseba and David when they committed adultery. Perhaps people  are afraid of the false ntcc doctrine that "touch not mine anointed" means one can't speak about an anointed one's sin?  The bible clearly shows "anointed" ones being rebuked for their sins.  Nathan rebuked David for his sin of adultery.  And David challenged Saul for hunting him for no reason.  But David would not let his men physically harm Saul.  That is the difference.  We know David obtained mercy despite committing adultery and murder by proxy.    David repented.  He did not continue in sin.  He obtained mercy and truly turned from his sin.

What will you do, rw?  Will you continue to play the "Games People Play?  Will you continue to spout off that you are the "Eye in the Sky" when that title belongs to Another? Will you seize this opportunity to repent?  Or will the "Time" come when we mourn you, "Goodbye, My Friend" like it says in the song or as Christ called Judas Iscariot "Friend"?

Mat 26:48  Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

Mat 26:49  And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

Mat 26:50  And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

Luk 22:48  But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

I've come to wonder over the years why that man, Alan Parsons, didn't pull the trigger on old r.w.  I suppose 'twas mercy stayed his hand.  Yet 44+ years later, viewing, from hindsight, the aftermath of destruction wrought upon the untold unsuspecting souls by davis and his disciples, I again have to wonder; Would it have been more merciful to pull the trigger?  One down, thousands spared years of grief and destruction, of sexual immorality and perversion, of child and wife abuse, of fractured faith and frustrated futures.  Well, only God knows.  He is the True Eye In The Sky.  He is longsuffering, not willing that any should perish:

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

So how 'bout it, rahj?  Will you for once in your life repent?  There's still hope, as long as you're still breathing.  Right?  Isn't that what you or olson taught?  There's hope as long as still breathing.  Unless those breaths are taken from a person's death-bed or by the thief on the cross; right?  That is also what you taught.  Well, rahj, which way would you want it for you on your deathbed?  Why teach two things that contradict each other and try to claim, as r w davis so often has:

"I've never missed God."--by which Rodger Wilson Davis claimed to mean that he was infallible, never missing the will of God; but now I wonder if it really means he is no longer troubled by the absence of God from his life; rodger never missed God.

"All I do is by the Holy Ghost."--Rodger Wilson Davis' claim to infamy.  Puh-leez don't blaspheme the Sweet Holy Spirit, rodger, by blaming the Holy Ghost for all the wicked stuff you've done.  The Holy Ghost never told you to commit adultery!

And how about it, readers?  Did you, as I once did, hold these men in high esteem?  Were you, as was I, duped?  Don't despair.  The bible said every man a liar:

Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Are you broken by the borg?  Trust Jesus.  God is able to keep that which is committed unto Him:

2Ti 1:12  For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

I don't hold much hope for davis and his impenitent ilk to repent.  But, beloved, for those who have been broken by the borg-scoundrels, I believe better things for you:

1 Tim 6:6-10

Exiting a Cult

Being in a cult is a lot like being in the Twilight Zone.  Most of the Twilight Zone episodes seem to depict people that are living in an alternate universe.  More often than not the person is trapped and trying to find his or her way back to the real world, but everyone else in this alternate universe seems to be going along with the charade.  Often times in the Twilight Zone people find themselves in a prison that their own mind has built to accommodate their bewilderment involved in the absurd situations in which they find themselves.  Being a cult member is the same; and escaping from the cult is never an easy thing to do.

"Logic is an enemy ... truth is a menace."

Identify The Problem:  You ARE in a CULT
The first thing you need to do is identify that you are in a cult.  The first step to recovery for a drug addict is to identify the problem.  The first step to recovery from a physical ailment or sickness is to identify the ailment so that it can be properly treated.  In the military soldiers are trained to identify the enemy.   There are many ways in which this is accomplished.  They identify the enemy's equipment such as tanks, aircraft and ships.  They identify the enemy's methods and analyze their philosophy.  When a soldier enters a NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) area he must quickly identify it so he or she can take the appropriate steps to prepare for it.  The same holds true for a cult member.  When a cult member realizes that they are in a harmful and abusive situation, they need to identify that as a serious problem so that it can be dealt with.

Exit Stage Right!

How do you identify a cult?   A cult is not your garden variety church.  In a cult everything is taken to the extreme.  Rules are extreme as well as consequences for not obeying those rules.   Here are a few things to look for:

1.  Is your cult hell bent on getting your money?  Do they preach and teach that you are going to die and go to hell if you don't pay tithe?  Do they single folks out for not paying tithe and humiliate them in front of others?

2.  Are they transparent with their finances or is everything a big secret?  Are you aware of where all your money goes, or are you expected to trust the preacher?

3.  How are women treated in your cult?  Do they have rights?  Are they told they have to submit to their husbands to the point of going along with things that are not right?  Are they told they can't have jobs or are they ignored when they seek help from their cult leaders?

4.  Are you isolated from society?  Is it frowned upon for you to spend time with relatives or go on vacations or do anything that takes you away from your cult?  Are they scared that you might not come back from your vacation?  Does your cult keep you so busy going to church functions that you have little time for anything else including sleep?

5.  Are their rules double standards or rules that keep changing to accommodate the sins of the cult leaders?  For example:  Extreme rule # 1 - 20 years ago TV is a sin, it is called the devil vision and people who watch it are doing so because they are worldly and they are on their way to hell.  Now - TV is okay if you watch certain programs.  Extreme rule # 2 - Women are not to work on the job because they are to be keepers of their homes, (scrubbing toilets, and washing dishes).  Women can work if it involves cleaning their cult leader's personal houses, or if they are in an overseas church and the cult leaders do not want to spend money that they could be using to improve their own lavish lifestyles.  Double standards are nothing but lies that are told by cult leaders to keep their cult members oppressed and giving, while they enjoy living in excess.   Cult leaders seldom hold themselves to the same rules that they require their struggling members to adhere to.

6.  Are relationships manipulated?  Are single cult members allowed to talk to members of the opposite sex without permission from their cult leader or hireling?  Are wedges driven between spouses and their families because the husband or the wife does not go along with all of the cult leaders controlling demands?  Is divorce and remarriage encouraged in your cult?

7.  Does your cult have really stupid and absurd rules that usually involve asking the cult leader for permission to do things that most grown adults should not have to ask anyone to do?  For instance, if you live on the cult compound in Graham Washington, do you have to ask for permission to allow anyone to come visit you? Do you have to ask permission to ride in someone else's car?   Do you have to ask permission to miss a church service or a bible study?  Are you considered less of a Christian if you miss a church service or bible study?

8.  If there is any question if you are in a cult, look up cults on Wikipedia and see what they all have in common.  The ntcc will warn you of other cults, but many of them teach the same things that the ntcc teaches and they use the same cult tactics and same cult jargon.  Look up some of the cults that the ntcc warns you about like the Oneness, the Mormons, Jehovah Witness and the Seventh Day Adventists.  See what they all have in common with the ntcc and then open your bibles and see if the rules are actually required in the bible or have the scriptures been twisted.

Those are just a few identifiers that should alert a cult member that things are just not right.  Once you have identified that you are in a cult, there are a few options that you have to chose from.  The next phase involves doing what is best for you.  You must live with the choices you make.  The cult leaders are not going to take any responsibility for any damages you may suffer in your personal life.  A very good question to ask yourself is, "Does your Christianity hinge on your cult".  Can you survive as a Christian in this world without your cult?  Whether the answer is yes or no does not necessarily matter but what is best for you matters.  If you can not live as a Christian outside of your cult then your salvation is not rooted and grounded in Christ, but in your cult.  If you feel that your relationship is with God and does not depend on the ntcc, then if you leave, God will keep you.

Unfortunately their is no simple answer.  If there is a family involved it gets even more complicated.  My personal opinion is that the sooner you can escape, the better off you'll be.  If you are a woman in the ntcc, it makes things more difficult because you have very little resources at your disposal and absolutely no support. But God can keep you.  Be sure your family knows you want to serve God; and you want to do so outside the ntcc.  Let them know you love them.  If they don't want to leave, and you feel you must, let them know you will wait for them.  And Pray, Pray, Pray.

One important thing that a lot of people struggle with when they leave is fear.  They blame themselves for all of the things that went wrong.  It's not your fault.  You were taken advantage of for your money; and the cult leaders couldn't care less about you after you leave.  We have always advocated that you keep your relationship with God and ditch the cult.  Your faith and God's love for you is stronger than a cheating, swindling organization will ever be.  Don't be afraid of the ntcc cult leaders or any other cult leaders; because they are not living the same gospel that they are preaching to you.  They are hypocrites and phony con artists that are after your money.

I am going to share what I would do; and this is just my opinion; and it may be right or wrong; because I don't claim to be an expert or to have all the answers. Exiting a cult is a difficult dilemma.  If I were in the ministry and my wife wanted to continue serving the cult, but I knew it was wrong, and that they were liars and cheats, I would stop attending cult church services and participating in cult  functions.  I would tell my wife that I still love her; and that I am not abandoning her.  I would explain why I was leaving and do everything I could to open her eyes to the truth.  I would try to prepare her by telling her that once I stop attending services that her cult leaders would try to split us up and convince her that I have left God; and that they would try to get her to divorce me.  During this whole process of exiting the cult I would try as hard as I could to show her the love of God and to show her my own love for her is deeper than the cult.  If She chose to leave me after all that, I would be heart broken; but I also would know that I did everything I could to help her.  It would have to be a conscious decision that she made to leave me and continue with the cult.  If she were to abandon me, and remarry, she would be the one committing adultery; and not to be calloused or cold hearted, but if it came down to a ultimatum between God and spouse, I would hope that God would win.  Knowing my wife, if we would have been married 23 years ago, she would have been the first to figure out we were in a cult; and I would be the one with the tough decision to make.

That is my solution; but like I said, it may be right or wrong.  I think that it is important for the exiting cult member to start doing normal things and begin the decontamination process as quickly as possible.  See our blog posts entitled "Return To Normalcy Toolbox" and "You Just Might Be In A Cult".   I have heard of couples that are in the ntcc, even in higher positions, that have done this.  I've heard of women that are still married to their husbands, but they are not attending ntcc.  I would like to open this up to others who might have suggestions.  I think it is healthy to discuss this; and it's definitely a topic that many folks in the ntcc are and have struggled with.  Please feel free to leave a comment anonymously if you'd like.

There is a support network for people who leave.  There are X-ers in a lot of areas, and there are a great many in Washington that get together regularly.  GS/DS have been very helpful to folks that have left; and there are many others who will love you with no strings attached.  Kat has a good heart and is willing to help folks along in the healing process.  If we can help you, please drop us a line and we will answer as soon as possible.  There are a few people that we owe emails to, and we will try to answer those soon.  We appreciate all those who have stood up to the ntcc cult leaders and have taken a stand for what is right and honorable.  You are not alone and we are praying for you.

Above all remember, leaving ntcc does not mean you are leaving God. There are plenty of healthy churches out there with real Christians.  Find one and start enjoying the services and the unconditional love that they live out on a daily basis.  Look for churches where the highest leaders especially remember that the word "minister" means servant.  Also, look for a church that believes in working with other churches and the community.  Watch their lives.  Be a fruit inspector.  If doubt nags at you, study cults in general, from sources that have nothing to do with us or the ntcc.  Educate yourself.  The truth shall make you free.  People don't like the word "cult" because they associate it with the occult and blood drinking-devil worshippers.  But the word "cult" also describes groups that are Christian in name only while being full of abuse; they may teach bible principles while the top leaders abuse and use the people.  That hypocrisy makes them a cult.  Remember that God is love, so godly people will love you in deeds and actions.  The leaders will be servants of all, not the other way around as it is in the top levels of the ntcc.
